HOT LUNCH PROGRAM
Welcome to Egan Hot Lunch
Egan is pleased to announce that for the 2011/2012 school year hot lunch will be provided by Pasta Market and Spot Pizza. This change will allow Egan to continue to provide healthy, wholesome, tasty lunches that meet the state of California nutritional guidelines while also complying with USDA guidelines. The menu will change approximately every twelve weeks offering our students a variety of different food choices and cuisines. Your student can order for the whole session and then not have to think about it until the next session begins or place orders on a more frequent basis.
The new system also affords your student the flexibility to change, add or cancel orders. We are excited to offer four entree choices from Pasta Market each day of the week except on Wednesdays, when we offer Spot’s pizza. We encourage parents to register their Egan student for hot lunch. Even if your student doesn’t order on a regular basis, if your student doesn’t come to school with a lunch and is registered, your student can charge your account and purchase a lunch, if available, for $5.00. On Wednesdays, extra pizza and fruit will be available for $3.00 payable by cash. After the first week of school orders can be added, changed or cancelled up until the Friday before the serving week.
Hot lunch will continue to be the main source of revenue for the PTA, so when you purchase hot lunch for your student, you support Egan’s PTA and the programs it funds.
Continuing with our tradition of being good stewards of our planet, Egan Hot Lunch is green! Egan has a water filtration system allowing students to refill re-usable water bottles brought from home rather than receive non-reusable water bottles with lunch. We are also requesting our vendors deliver food in compostable packaging. Egan is excited to significantly reduce its carbon footprint in 2011/2012.
Hot Lunch Dates
The school year will be divided into three sessions, each approximately 13 weeks long. Menus will change between sessions. Ordering for each session will begin one month prior to the session start, and at that time you may order for the entire session or only part and then add lunches later. All orders must be placed by midnight Friday of the week before you are ordering for. You will be unable to add, change or delete orders for the upcoming week after Friday at midnight. For example, if you want to change any of your orders for the week of August 22rd, you would need to make those changes prior to midnight of Friday August 19th. After midnight August 19th you could only place or change orders beginning the week of August 30th.
